My Christmas Eve
We've had pouring rain + wind all day today, so other than deepening two of my holes and starting a new little one, mum and I spent our day home. I really don't mind the rain at all as it makes the dirt that much more aromatic. I also prefer the look that comes with digging in wet earth. However, mum seems to think differently for some reason.
Mum slept a lot today because she's been so tired from work. I didn't mind as I had fun deepening my holes, and when I finally decided it was time to come inside, I used my boootifully, mud decorated paws to knock on the door. I'm sure that got me lots of points from Santa as I was polite - I knocked, instead of shouted like I usually do. Mum heard the knock, she came to the door, took one look at me through the glass door, and headed straight to the bathroom. It wasn't the first time she's done that, so I wasn't offended. She came out of the bathroom with the dreaded bucket of water. Yup, I had to step in the bucket, all four feet. One bucket wasn't enough, we repeated the process three times before you could actually see the bottom of the bucket. Yes, I'm a powerful digger, and my curls love the dirt. My nose had crusty brown earth on it, so I had to get a nose wash too. I quite like getting my nose washed because I get to dive for ROCKIES!!
Anyway, in the evening, mum's orphaned friends (families over seas) came over and they decided they were going to Stanley Park to see the Bright Lights and take the X-mas Light Train around the park.
Mum served me my Course #5 before abandoning me on Christmas Eve. Course # 5 this evening was a lambie shank.
So I spent the rest of my Christmas Eve with Lambie Shank. We had a little chat, I let him say a few last words, and we bid farewell.
Meanwhile mum and her friends were finding out how uncomfortable it was to be "outside" in the wind and rain, so they dropped the whole Stanley Park lights idea and went to eat. Then they went to see a house, the brightest house with an Angel.
There is a story behind all these lights
There once lived a brave boy in this house. His name was Michael Cuccione. He was diagnosed at the age of 9 with Hodgkin Lymphoma, and passed away at the tender age of 16 in January 2001.
He was a singer, songwriter, dancer, actor and a motivational speaker for the fight against childhood cancer. It was because of him the Michael Cuccione Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research was founded.
So every Christmas, his parents decorate the house and their front yard with lights in memory of Michael, and the general public is welcome to tour around the front yard.

Anyway, mum and her friends came over to MY house after seeing the lights, and I was soooo happy that they were back. Yea sure I missed mum, but I was more happy because I could finally be rescued from heat exhaustion.
Yes, this is what I had been doing for the last 4 or 5 hours. I panted, and panted, and PANTED!
Mum had the indoor heating on upstairs, and you see, there was a problem.....
I did finally get back down to the cooler grounds (indoor heating was off downstairs), but only to get in trouble again.
I don't understand, mum has always told me sharing is a good thing, that's why I brought Rudolph over from under my tree. I was trying to share Lambie Shank with him!!
Funny tho, that Rudolph seemed to be more interested in hair fashion than my bone. Just look at him, he slabbed gel all over himself and made his hair all hard and spiky!!
Mum eventually put Rudolph back to his spot under the tree. Oh, and see that huge pressie I got from another one of mum's friend??
It's huge, but it's soft, and I'm wondering if it's yet another blankie since it is from one of mum's friends afterall. I can't tell what it is since this one is wrapped, the the other three aren't.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!

Hey Miss Sunshade, don't you like the pretty lights? I went out to see them and we had lots of fun! Or perhaps the X-Mas Train doesn't like doggies. Yucky X-Mas Train! Anyhow, we had a great Christmas Eve and Day. Hope you did too!
Love and Licks,
Texas (and his humans).
Hey Miss Sunshade!
Ooooh la la.. I know exactly where that house is! Sometimes when I get to go to Mum's boo-friend's house, we drive past it. Was it your first time going?? The lights are very, very pretty.. the house next door used to decorate their outside too but I heard from a boo-man that someone in that house went away to the boo-man rainbow bridge so they didn't feel up to making their house shiny this year :(
Mum's best friend actually lives 3 houses down from that house! And Mum went to high school right across the street.. what a tiny booman world.
By the way, I'm sorry you got ditched on Christmas Eve - I also got ditched on Christmas!! They all went out to eat without me. I think that our boo-mans should have been responsible and set up a date for us <3 Next time, we will have to send ruffminders to them!
I'm glad you got my card.. it was sealed with LOVE DROOLIES.
Xmas snuggles,
Dudley
PS - still looking for a box big enough to fit myself into..
What a FUN Christmas you're having Sunshade! Wish we have snow too! Then I can pretend to be a Snowman so my mum will quit bugging me!!
