I dreamed of Daisie Duke

I saw my friend Daisie Duke in my dream.......

I didn't know it was a dream at first, I thought I was in heaven. This place that I was in was so beautiful and so colourful. There were meadows, hills, and the lush green grass for me to run around. I found lots of bunny holes, and I dug and dug and DUG! Then I heard a little whisper of a very familiar voice.... I turned around, and it was my MOUSIE!!!

I was so happy to see him again, I ran over and picked him up like I used to all the time. MOUSIE told me he knew where there were lots and lots of squirrliess for me to chase all day long. I followed MOUSIE through the shaded valley, and then VOILA, I saw a field of squirrlies!! With no hesitation, I started running and chasing those squirrlies, I was in heaven!! The most amazing part was that even after hours of running, my bad elbow didn't hurt one bit. In fact, I felt as if I was back being a puppy, there was no pain or discomfort whatsoever, just JOY!

My MOUSIE then told me there was someone VERY special who is waiting for me at the gate.

The gate?

What gate? I wondered.

I followed MOUSIE, and then, there it was!!

I couldn't believe my eyes, because it was even MORE beautiful inside that gate. There was a rainbow over a little bridge, and according to MOUSIE, the rainbow never disappears!!

And then, I saw a pup prancing over that little bridge, she was coming towards me!!! It was my friend Daisie Duke,

She came to me with a dirt covered nose, and a squirrel dangling from her mouth. When she put the squirrel down to say hi, she had this big Aire-grin on her face!! Yup, she was bragging to me about how she caught the squirrel! But of course, nobody over at the rainbow bridge gets hurt, and the squirrel told me that was just a chase game they play all the time. Oh my doG, is this heaven?? Daisie and the squirrel invited me to join their chase game, so I did, and boy, Daisie was running SOOOO fast I was having a hard time keeping up!

We played and played and played, until it was time for Daisie to go eat. Yup, she LOVED her food, and wouldn't miss it for anything!! She told me over on the other side of the rainbow bridge, there is always food, all kinds of yummy food and they never run out!! Are you kidding me? This MUST be heaven!

I wanted to follow Daisie and MOUSIE through the gate, but they both told me I had to stay. They said it was not my time to walk through that gate yet, but they promised me one day, we will all be together again!! I trusted them and stayed on the other side of the gate while watching their figures get smaller and smaller......

Just before they disappeared completely from my sight, I felt something heavy on me. I turned to look, and there was my mum snuggled up against me with her big heavy arm on top of me.

Where did the meadows go? Where did the grass go? where were the squirrlies??

It was then I realized that heavenly place I was at was just a dream....... I was lying comfortably on mum's bed. Mum looked sad, she had watery eyes. I didn't know why mum was sad, but I didn't ask. I just laid there with her, and we both fell asleep.

Maybe I'll see Daisie again in my sleep?? Maybe I'll get to play with her again in that heavenly place?

Daisie wanted me to give her mom Amy, her brother Jordan, and her sister Kendra a note:

Dear mommy, Kendra, and my Jordan,

I love and miss you guys so so very much!! Please don't worry about me, the Rainbow Bridge is a wonderful place to be. I don't feel sick anymore, and did I tell you I LOVE to eat everything?? The only problem is I have so much energy I don't know what to do with it. So far, I have not been able to find any shoe for me to chew the inside out, and I am a little disappointed about that. On the other hand, I have met so many nice friends here and they are all taking great care of me including Miss Sunshade's MOUSIE.

Think of me often, but please don't be too sad because we will ALL be together again someday! If you don't believe me, just check out this video:

The Rainbow Bridge

Give Liliie, Whiskers, and Sox each a belly scratch from me ok?? (I'll be watching you from the RB, so make sure you do what I said ok? hehehe)

Daisie Duke

Have fun at the Rainbow Bridge Daisie! You must have been so special for the big doG above to want you back so soon. Take care of yourself and my MOUSIE ok??

Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade

Dearest Miss Sunshade,
I too am so sad to hear that Daisy Duke has left us for the Rainbow Bridge. She was so young, but did a wonderful job of loving while she was here. Have you ever noticed that when one of us goes to the Rainbow Bridge, how our humans are especially attached to us then? I guess it makes them realize even more how lucky they are to have us.
I hope Amy will soon get another little pup to love and spoil.
Hugs and prayers go to her, and to her friends. We all loved her too.

My mom cried so hard! We'll be seeing you later Daisie (my paw raised). Unless someone says no- my mom wants to send the family a Christmas card anyway as a reminder of how many friends Daisie had.

Dear Miss Sunshade:
Thank you for the most beautiful blog in memory of Daisie. I can't wait to show it to Kendra and Jordan. It will help them to know that so many people are thinking of us at such a sad time. We want everyone to know that we are still excited about the X-mas card exchange. While Daisie might not be with us physically, she is with us in spirit. She is somewhere she can be a puppy again. Love, Amy

dear sunshade,

that's a beautiful dream. i hope i see daisie in my dream too, although i don't know much about her, but she's so loved that i'm sure she's a wonderful pup. i hope her family finds closure, and i'm sure daisie is watching over them. please tell your mom not to be sad, cos at least daisie's not suffering anymore. even though she tried not to show it, she was probably struggling. now she's forever young and healthy, let everyone find solace in that.

Hi There, Miss Sunshade and Elaine, thanks for letting us know about poor Daisie Duke. We did not know her very long but she had left some comments on our Blog and we cannot believe the sad, sad news.

My Jeannie was unable to finish reading your post about her today as those salty wet things were coursing down her cheeks, she said she will have to finish reading it later. Then she looked so sad, and walked away from the computer.

She says it is very hard to type with those wet, salty, things coming out her eyes, everything is blurred. So I have taken over.

We have left a wee condolence message for Amy and her family on Daisie Duke's Blog.

Daisie was a Diamond Dog Whose Sparkle will last forever.

I'm sorry for Daisie Duke's lost. I've sent her mom an email expressing my condolences but I think that you said it more beautifully than any of us could have. You are a wonderful friend. Daisie must have been a very special dog to be called home so soon. May she rest in peace.
