Ambleside Beach

Ambleside Park - Located in West Vancouver, is a favorite beach walking area on the north shore with views of downtown Vancouver, Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge, sailboats, freighters, and tugboats.

Features:

  • Picnic areas
  • Playgrounds
  • Swimming areas
  • Par 3 golf course
  • Jogging trails and tracks
  • Playing fields
  • Skateboard park, basketball & tennis courts
  • Sailing facilities
  • Concession stand
  • Long stretch of beach
  • Dog Walk

I get to go play at Kits Beach almost everyday, but it is not often I get to go to Ambleside Beach due to the distance. It takes a good half an hour drive from where we live to West Vancouver, excluding the traffic jam that often happens on Lions Gate Bridge .

Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I saw mum pulled into the parking lot today. I couldn't wait to get out of the car, so I started pawing at the lock and un-locked the car door myself.......

Look at how happy I was to finally be on the beach!!

The waves were extremely big today, making "rock" hunting very difficult. I kept being engulfed by the tsunami...........................

I knew I had to come up with some kind of tactic if I were to succeed in becoming a successful Rock Hunter. So I thought about it,

and came up with a plan - I decided to jump up and over each wave that was about to hit me, like this:

Finally, I got my much deserved ....... ROCK!!

I made mum find the biggest sticks out there to retrieve because, I like them BIG, the BIGGER the better!!

We walked along the main stretch of the beach towards the dog beach where I *thought* I saw my friend, T-man!!!

Of course, as I got closer, I realized he was not T-man. This little fella did not have the form or confidence the T-man I know have *wink*. SIGH.... I was so disappointed..... I thought T-man had finally decided to make the long drive over to see me.....

Anyway, I carried on walking (with a very heavy heart),

and then, I met a few terrorists, including a "mini-me". His name was Freddie, and he brightened my day right up!!

Freddie is a Welsh Terrier, and what I don't understand is, why isn't he called a Miniature Airedale?? I mean, we look exactly the same and differ only in size. If there are Miniature Poodles and Miniature Schnauzers, why not Miniature Airedales?? Of course then, we would have to call Lakeland Terriers - Toy Airedales!!

Here are the other terrorists!!

Few other memorable shots from today:

Vancouver's landmark, Lions Gate Bridge behind me

We were at Ambleside for a good "3" hours, BUUUUUUT................. I was still not ready to go yet! So my EVIL mum went and started the ignition of SunshadeMOBILE to make me panic. HOW EVIL!!

my cousin jackie likes to rock hunt in water just like you and she also likes to fetch huge sticks. i wud say you two are related but jackie isnt any sort of terrorist.

Oh Sunshade!

You're post made my heart stop! You tackled those waves with decisive aplomb! As good as you are, I think you should wait for me to bark those waves into submission for you. They weren't properly herded, anything could have happened!

Don't worry about sharing me, you have my full attention.

Kisses (anticipating the taste of butter, mmmm)

PS, off to the aussie picnic today...more later

I am SOOOO jealous! We don't have a beach up here and it looks like fun. I think we probably have terrierists though.

I wish SO SO much that could have been me there on the beach!! That looked like FUN! I love biting the waves and playing at the water's edge. Fetching big sticks through those waves would be too scary for me though.

It's nice to see that T-man look-a-likes are playing along the beaches of Vancouver. Of course, he's just a wannabe! :)

PS: There should be Mini and Toy Airedales!! That makes more sense.

My heart skipped a beat! I thought that was indeed my Romeo T-MAN. Which would mean he is in Canada and possibly on his way to see me, sneak off with me and elope. In fact I began running around packing some of my favorite toys and then I realized it was not my man.

Sigh.

You should of hooked up with T-Man's lookalike Sunshade.
Male Poodles are the hottest thing going....and you know what they say. Once you go black, you never go back.

Hi Sunshade, Ambleside Park looks wonderful. And you were so great as a Rock Hunter.
That's a lot of terrorist you met that day. hee. I like the mini-you but of course Sunshade the original is still the BEST. :)

SunShade, you have the bestest life! You go to such wonderful places and have such great friends to play with. And here I live with old people in a 55 and over community where even the dogs are old and boring! Can I come live with you?

Guess what? Linda got the ingredients to make your recipe for me.
Big Wags,

Jay: it was very fun and I had a great time! I really didn't want to go home you know...

Ivy: I only retrieve when there's water involved LOL. On land, I'll go get the ball, but bring it somewhere else!!

My brave Max: please come and herd these bad waves, they made my rock hunting job so much harder...

Zach: you might not have beaches, but you've got snow!! I love snow, but it rarely snows in Vancouver... unless we go up the mountains.

T-man: Mini and Toy Airedales does sound great doens't it!!

Bogart: Thanks, I really had a lot of fun. Would have much more fun if you were there...

Charlie: hehe...surfing eh?

Chelsea: trust me I tried, but he just ignored me and went after his sticks!!

Sam: that's a great idea, I think I already have enough for a house in 90210!!

OH thank you Fufu, I'm so happy you think I'm the best. That mini-me sure is cute tho!!

Isabella: you can come over anytime! Maybe if I hang out with you, the T-man look a like will at least sniff me??

Pacco: don't be jealous, I see you go to doggie gathering too, those are fun!

MUAH!!

Love nibbles,
Miss Sunshade
