Busy Buntzen Lake

Mum took me to Buntzen Lake today because we hadn't gone in a LONNNNNNG time! I was so excited in the car on the way to the lake. Once we got there, I couldn't wait to GOOO!

However, once we got to the Dog Beach....... there were so many dogs..... too many for my sensitive SuperNOSE.....

(mum: at Buntzen Lake, there is a dog beach side, and then there is a people side. Sunshade always tries to go to the people beach because she gets totally disgusted by the smell at the dog beach. The lake gets especially crowded during the summer months so you do smell doggie stuff there.)

So I took my ring and headed towards the gate leaving the beach to the lake trail. The aire is much fresher in the trails,

Crossing over to the other side, towards the gate with the blue sign on it,

You coming mum?

So we walked along the trail to our secret spot where the water is fresh and clean!! The arrows show where the beach was; red arrow is the length of the dog beach, and the blue arrow is the length of the hooman beach. I think SuperDALE should be allowed on the hooman end!!!

Fresh water for me to swim in!!

Do you know why this is our secret spot???

Because it's kinda hard to get to....!

You would have to walk in water!!

I love this spot because almost no doggie ever comes here, so they don't leave their scent here!

Oh did you find a SuperSTICK mum?? May I have it??

Well, I tried asking nicely..... must try another method,

GIMME!!

What do you want me to do in order to get the SuperSTICK???

Ok, I'm S-I-T-T-I-N-G now!!!!!

FINALLY!!!

Saving my tree!!!

I saved it successfully,

One less drowning tree.....

Now I want my ring!!

Yes, that ring,

Throw it!!

GOT IT!!! Look at my face, I SuperGOT-IT!!!

Got it again!

When I had had enough of swimming, I gave mum this look. It meant I was ready to go,

So we walked the trail back towards the beach,

When we got to the gate to the beach, I wanted to by-pass the beach so I didn't have to smell smelly stuff again. But mum saw this girl from outside the gate, and she just HAD to go in to see her and talk to her owner. Mum said her name was Mia, and she was 6 years old. Mum wanted me to go say HI,

I said no thanks and stood far far FAR away, (mum: she could not have made it any clearer that she DID NOT want to spend another second at the dog beach! She stood the entire time I talked to Mia's owner.)

When  mum finally stopped yapping, she said she needed to go to the washroom, which is on the hooman side. I said LET'S GO LET'S GO!!!!

I SuperLOVE the hooman side. It's so clean, I don't have to hop from side to side to avoid landmines, and I can roach!! But I had to wait for mum to go potty though...

You see how good I am? Mum doesn't need to tie me up because I won't go with anyone. I sniff every person that comes out to make sure mum doesn't get away. I trust my SuperNOSE more than my eyes!!

After Buntzen Lake, it was rush hour, so mum and I went to a high school/park to wait out the traffic. She kinda laid on my SuperLEG, and I was trying to politely move away.......

Drying off.......

Felt great to snooze in the shade on a hot day,

Showing off my special-ness. SuperPAW!

SuperNOSE!

SuperEYE!! (Can you tell what colour is mum's iPhone???)

Then out of no where, a naked man came to talk to mum! I told him to GOOOOO AWAY, and GOOOOO SIT AT THE TOP OF THE HILL AWAAAAAAY from MY mum!!!

I don't like people approaching mum when she's in a vulnerable position (ie. sitting, lying down, back towards them). So I always run up and block them with my SuperBODY, sometimes with a low growl, and make sure they go the other direction. I kept my eye on the naked man until he got all the way to the top of the hill. At least talk to MY mum with your shirt on!!

(mum: Sunshade is the best body guard, and she does it in a way that if you were the person in question, you would know that she wasn't coming up to you to bite you, but at the same time, you'd GET that she was trying to send you a message. As long as you respect her message, which in this case was to not come any closer to me, then she would be perfectly ok leaving you alone. BTW, guy wasn't completely naked, he had shorts on lol.)

After the naked man left, mum decided to do some exercise climbing the hill. She thought I wouldn't know because I was sound asleep in the shade by the tree........ But nope, I got up and watched her.

I watched (in the shade) as she did her exercise. My SuperEYES are always on MY mum!!! Isn't this a beautiful park/high school???

hot Hot HOT!!!

We went for a walk this morning and it was hot Hot HOT!!! The more bootiful silhouette is mine!

I walked our usual route of AROUND the outside of the tennis courts..... except... mum and STINKY strayed away....... See, I was outside of the courts, standing in the shade,

Mum continued to play with STINKY (without me can you believe it???),

I said come out NOW!!!!!

Neither of them listened, so I had to walk ALLLLL the way into the court to get them!

Of course, that was my mistake because I got stuck doing this!

Then it just got way too hot, so we played ball like this.....

Beauty & The Beast

The Beast......... he is so attractive.....

Baby buns - Day 2

Click here to see Day 1 of the baby bun buns

The bun bun rescue didn't get back to us until late, so mum did some research, asked some friends and decided that we needed to feed the buns. So we bought some Kitten Milk Replacement to feed the babies,

I wanted to help clean the milk off the bun bun's face!

Actually, I really wanted some kitten milk too...... but mum kept pushing my SuperHEAD away....

Why can't I have kitten milk??

This is the smaller, grey bun bun,

I wanted mum to hand her to me, so I SAT!!

Mum said I could help babysit her while she fed the other baby,

That's how big they are the day after we rescued them,

One of THOSE please!!

Mum took me to the pet store to buy Mean Juice some litter. I asked mum for a new piggie like I always do,

This one is on sale mum!!! $5 off!!

Mum said something about Noah's Ark being full, not sure what she meant by that, but could tell I ain't getting no piggie....

So I moved on, to mouse hunting. Mice come in with shipments and they hide everywhere in the store. In fact, I found one that was hiding in a pile of dog toys. I made it jump out onto mum's foot! Too bad I was too slow to catch it though.....

Something is behind there!

Then we saw a lady bring in two of these,

Mum always tells people that I'm not good with K-I-T-T-I-E-S, despite the fact that I have been trying to tell her as long as the kitties don't hiss or arch their backs or scratch me, I would be nice to them too!!!

This lady wanted to sell her kitties to the pet store so she was showing them to the store manager. I asked the lady if I may have one (even though mum was making me look bad by telling the lady "MY DOG IS NOT GOOD WITH CATS"). Good thing this lady didn't listen to mum, and said "LET'S TRY"!!

I said OK, LET'S TRY!!!!!!!!!!! (while mum thought she was going to have a heart attack because the lady just put the kitten down right in front of my SuperFACE)

Well...... SuperAPOLOGY please mum! Like I've told you, as long as they aren't mean to me, I won't be either! Please listen to your doghter next time!

(mum: I have always told people that Sunshade isn't good with cats. I have never had a cat, and whenever she sees a cat on our walk, she would stalk him and stare at him right in the eye . There were times where she came face to face with a cat (turned corner, cat was sitting there), and as soon as the cat hissed or arched its back, she went berserk. Had she been off leash, she would have chased him. However, there were two cats that Sunshade had been great with. One was Jazz (RIP), her vet clinic's cat. He was so used to dogs that he wouldn't even open his eyes from a snooze even if a dog's face was right beside him. Sunshade loved to go visit Jazz, she always wagged her tail and watched him. Never a bark, never a chase. Then there was the one cat she stalked on the street. It must have been a young cat. He/she saw Sunshade stalking, and instead of running away, he walked right up to us. He proceeded to walk in between Sunshade's front legs and started rubbing against her. Sunshade looked very confused I remember, because all cats on the street were suppose to challenge her! The terrier side of her thought cat challenges were extremely FUN (a scratched up nose was well worth it)!

I came up with a theory then that Sunshade didn't want to kill cats, and she could be good with them as long as the cat didn't react to her presence (which is a lot to ask because she does give them those "stares"). Still, I always try to keep Sunshade away from cats (and Jaffa too. He has learned from reading Sunshade's body language that he needs to react to cats)

While we were there today, an Asian woman come into the store with two beautiful Ragdoll kittens. She was trying to sell them to the pet store (unfortunately). Anyway, the woman saw me watching and she started talking to me in Mandarin (yes, people expect you to speak Chinese here in Vancouver if you were Asian!). She wanted me to buy one of the kittens. I told her right away that my dog was NOT good with cats. She took one look at the gentle looking Sunshade, and said "LET'S TRY!!". I right away said NO NO NO NO NO. She responded with "don't worry, cats and dogs get along, your dog is nice" and proceeded to grabbing one of the kittens to put it down. I again said NO my dog won't be nice to the kitten while trying to pull Sunshade away. Well... too late! Lady just let the kitten go, wasn't worried at all. She didn't even stand near the kitten to protect it in case anything happened! It was too late for me to do anything as she had put the kitten RIGHT IN FRONT of Sunshade. All I could do then was to watch Sunshade's body language. I knew needed to keep Sunshade's leash slacked as from our past experience, tension can set things off. My hand was hovering over the handle of her harness so I could grab her as soon as I felt her body language was changing.

BUT! My good girrrrrrrrl didn't let me down! So my theory was right, as long as the cat doesn't react, Sunshade is great with them. The kitten was so young, had no fear, so no reaction towards Sunshade. I took the video after I knew Sunshade was going to be ok. She is not an unpredictable dog, I can trust her based on the body language she shows me.)
